Three Shot, Including Two National Guardsmen, in Washington, DC

Three people were shot, including two National Guardsmen, in Washington, DC, on Wednesday afternoon, leading to a lockdown of the White House.
WJLA reported that the suspected shooter was in custody.
The Associated Press noted that the condition of the injured guards is not known. The DC Joint Task Force confirmed the incident occurred “in close proximity to the White House.”
The Daily Mail noted that the White House was locked down following news of the shooting.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “The White House is aware of and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed.”
Update: THE New York Times reported that the two National Guard members were shot “at the entrance to the Farragut West subway station.” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth called the shooting “cowardly” and said: “[It will] are only strengthening our resolve to ensure that Washington, DC, is safe and beautiful.
