Trump demands probe into Ilhan Omar’s alleged $30M fortune

President Donald Trump on Thursday called for an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, alleging in a social media post that the lawmaker was worth “over $30 million” and questioning how such wealth could have been accumulated while he held public office.
“Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is worth over $30 million,” Trump wrote. “There is no way such wealth could have been accumulated, legally, while receiving a politician’s salary.”
Trump said Omar “should be investigated for financial and political crimes, and that investigation should begin NOW!”

The comments were posted to Truth Social on Thursday, and the post quickly garnered thousands of reactions on the platform.
Omar, a Somali-born Democrat who represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, is under investigation by the House Oversight Committee into her finances and those of her husband Tim Mynett, although no formal charges have been filed against her.

His net worth reportedly soared by $30 million in just one year, according to financial disclosures released last week.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., previously said his panel was seeking answers about Omar and Mynett through congressional oversight.
Omar is expected to attend an “ICE Out of Minnesota” protest Friday in Minneapolis.
