You Can Get $35 in Google Store Credit If You Preorder the Fitbit Air

The new Google Fitbit Air is finally out. It costs $99.99, but if you pre-order before May 25, Google is giving you $35 in Google Store credit after your order ships. The watch also comes with three months of Google Health Premium, which unlocks a wide range of Gemini-based AI coaching features. Compared to Whoop style trackersbased on which the watch is designed, this is a particularly attractive deal since Whoop’s premium plans start at $199 per year, depending on region.

The Google Fitbit Air is essentially a Whoop alternative with its minimalist, screen-less design, designed to be worn discreetly while silently tracking metrics like health, fitness, sleep, and recovery, making it a must-have for people who don’t like the ping of a traditional smartwatch. The screenless design is also a plus if you’re not a fan of bulky portable devices and want something you can wear during workouts, at work, or while you sleep without it being a distraction. Metrics like Sleep Score, Sleep Stages, Cardio Load, and Readiness Score help you focus on long-term recovery.

That said, it won’t automatically reduce screen time. While no display is the point, it does mean you’ll need your phone to check stats and progress. It doesn’t come with true smartwatch features, such as access to calls, texts, apps, or maps on a watch face. Plus, many of the best features rely on a paid Google Health Premium subscription. Still, the three free months are a nice bonus, and with optional plans starting at $99 per year, that’s half the cost of an annual plan OBLIGATORY Whoop subscription. Still, it’s a great choice for people who want screen-free tracking a la Whoop but at a more affordable price (both upfront and long-term with the subscription), and for those who want to track their daily activity and get insights without wearing a full smartwatch. It’s worth considering if you want a lighter, bulkier wearable for overnight tracking or if you’re using the $35 Google Store credit for a second band or other Google accessory. However, if you want features like a built-in screen, music controls, and notifications available on your wrist, you’re better off with a more traditional smartwatch.
