At White House with Trump, Netanyahu apologizes to Qatar over Doha strike

The excuses of Netanyahu, presented at the request of Trump, were to violate the sovereignty of Qatar. He followed a previous American statement that Israel was committed not to carry out other operations in Qatar. Doha has not published any official declaration, although Qatar demands, among other things, that Israel pays compensation to the family of a Qatari security officer killed during the strike. Shortly after the telephone call, Qatar announced that it would be a mediation role in the cease-fire talks.
On September 9, the FDI carried out an air strike in Doha, the capital of Qatar, targeting the senior officials of Hamas. The SHIN BET security army and security service later announced in a joint declaration that the Air Force had “struck the main direction of the terrorist organization”. Qatar severely condemned the strike, appealing it “a cowardly act and a blatant violation of international law”.
The operation was called “top of fire”. The army and Shin Bet stressed that the leaders of the targeted Hamas had led the group’s operations for years and were directly responsible for the massacre of October 7 and to wage the war against Israel. Hamas denied that the strike had succeeded, saying that its management had survived and claiming that the attack has shown Israel’s intention to block any chance of an agreement. Later this month, several senior Hamas officials who survived the strike gave interviews with the media.
A diplomatic source told Al Jazeera that the appeal with the Emir Qatari had been initiated by Trump and included the three parties. According to the source, Netanyahu apologized in the tripartite appeal to violate Qatar’s sovereignty and for the murder of the security officer in Doha’s strike.
